This was a cute story that was full of action. However, I did not like that is was an ABC book. For example, for X, the author used the word exclaim. If an author wants to teach the ABCs then I think the words need to start with the right letters. There were also a few other letters that could have had better words used in order to help the children understand that those words started with the particular letter. On the other hand, it was a cute story about children having fun on the farm. ( )

Summary: This is an ABC book that goes through the alphabet telling the story of three kids and their day on the farm. Each of the letters contains a sound that goes with it which could make the book a great read aloud for young children. There was also a rhyme that went along with each letter. As the story goes on the children do many things like visit the animals and watch the tractor drive through the fields.

Review: I thought that the book was cute and well-written. Beverly Cleary does a good job of coming up with sounds and rhymes to go along with each letter. The pictures are well done and they add a lot of detail to the story since there is not a whole lot of text. ( )

This book uses a farm house setting to explain the alphabet. Each page has its own letter and little story. As far as alphabet books are concerned, this book is a little more complicated. its words are larger and are not what you would typically think of when describing the alphabet. Also a lot of the words on the pages do not start with that letter because of its story format. I would use the book in a classroom, but it would not be the first alphabet book I introduce because of its complexity.

Beverly Cleary is known for her books for children so I knew before I opened the book that it would be a positive experience when relating the book to its purpose. This book is full of recognizable events, large letters, and vivid pictures. All of these qualities are perfect in a book for our young readers. The book goes through each letter of the alphabet, focusing on it's purpose and words that start with the letter. The book is not only educational, but also enjoyable for the young eye.

This book is meant for young readers or to be read aloud to very young children. This concept book addressing the alphabet, using rhyme and animals to help with letter recognition and memorization. For example, for the letter B, "Bb for Boo! We see you, too". Each letter's scene is also illustrated for readers to enjoy. The letters (both upper and lower case) are enlarged on the page and are in bright colors to stand out. I believe this is a fun and positive learning experience for young readers
