The War at Arms covers all fronts, all sides, and minor actions as well as major events. It has over 800 photographs, illustrations, charts, and dioramas.

This book doesn't get a lot of press, but it is actually the best one-volume record of World War 2 that I've read. Its well illustrated, very readable and has plenty of interesting sidebars and details. An excellent reference and starting point. ( )

A well-organized book about World War II and its events (including leading up to, and postwar), lots of images, lots of biographical backgrounds of the men and women that were influential identities in the most terrible conflict of the 20th century. ( )
