I really enjoyed the book at the start, but felt it lost some momentum. It may be that it just was t what I had expected. I was looking for a historical mystery and it was more of a feminist study. I dislike when people attribute horrific deeds to people who are dead and cannot defend themselves. What we know for sure about Cleveland might stand, but how he is portrayed here....
Anyway some nice tidbits of area history, an overall interesting if, for my taste, too tragic, story ( )

A fine novel, richly deserving of all the accolades it has received.

Enjoyable story, not only about the building of the new Niagra falls power station, the racism and sexism dealt towards people, but also a detective story surrounding the deaths of several of those involved in the power station

compelling...I really like Lauren Belfer as a writer... ( )
