In the far future... A UNIVERSE TREMBLES. It is the far future; the human race has finally colonized the galaxy, preserving an era of prosperity that's only possible because of The Hypernaturals. They're a celebrated, galaxy-wide superhero task force that keeps the peace. That is, until they all mysteriously vanish. Now, as the galaxy teeters on the brink of chaos, it's up to a group of retired and long forgotten Hypernaturals -- and their novice recruits -- to save the galaxy from complete destruction. Once again I find myself wishing I could use half stars. This is a 3.5 for me. The book concept wins points for having a villain who may or may not be pure evil. I enjoyed not being entirely sure as to what Sublime's ultimate game is. I loved the idea of a computer AI growing to complete sentience and reaching a point where it's running nearly all of Man's daily functions. (Read Ray Kurzweil for more wild stuff on this topic). Where the first volume loses points is in the writing and bulk of the remaining characters. Most of the characters are thinly written. Clone 45 is your basic Wolverine/Hulk type, which I'd guess would be fine if it's not explained several times over that he also holds all the information from the 44 clones that came before him. Seems like he'd be really smart and have oodles of wisdom. He doesn't.

If I were 12-18 I'd have rated this much higher I'm sure. The problem is the inconsistent, even weak comic-book-esque writing gets in the way. ( )

If your looking for a superhero book that doesnt feature mavel or DC comics more well known heros then you should check this one out. Its got it all, odd and interesting super powers, future society, bad guy who is smarter than everyone else, and really good art. ( )
