Seven years ago the zombies attacked spreading death wherever they went. Only few survived but Kai and Clover were among them. Kai was an exceptionally good fighter, a young man who couldn't take his eyes away from Clover since the first moment he saw her and Clover was...well, Kai wasn't sure what she was as she obviously had a mysterious secret she wasn't ready to share with him. Yet. But because of his father Kai had a secret of his own, too. Something so horrible he wasn't sure anyone would ever forgive him if they found out about it.

I am not particularly fond of zombies but I'm glad I gave this story a shot, as it is so much more than just a zombie story. It is a story about surviving, forgiving and love. Definitely a must read!

For seven years Kai carried the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Under the most unconventional circumstances, Kai and Clover meet. There was an instant chemistry between the two. Somehow Kai knew more about Clover than she could have imagined.

Even though the town was taken over by zombie's there were people that were able to continue living and enjoying what they had left of their lives. When the zombies took over many people perished but a surprising amount of people survived. They had not stopped living. They just found a way to adjust even though they had to live in a cave with no windows.

This story is one of survival but also zest for life. Still finding happiness through the most difficult of times. It reminds me to appreciate what I have and to be grateful.

Most stories about zombies and other creatures are not usually as touching as this. There is a love story in this book that is so sweet. I was really swept up in the moment and enjoyed the suspenseful ride that this unusual story took me on.

"Kai turned to see the most beautiful girl standing before him; she looked pretty close to his age, and fifteen or sixteen years old and had beautiful white hair that flowed down her back. Her blue eyes glowed like sapphires in the firelight. The life he saw in her face took her breath away. For so long now people had a dead look on their faces. They had lost all hope and seemed to be just trying to survive one more day. This girl radiated life and had a sparkle in her eyes."
