However the Electra herself seems to have managed to get herself involved in a huge proportion of the war's most famous naval engagements and the book's worth a read for that if nothing else. ( ) The Electra was an "E" class destroyer. A standard pattern of four 4.7" guns, eight torpedo tubes, and a speed of 36 knots. the "A" to "I" classes were the backbone of the fleet destroyers in the pre-war era. Only 31 of the 82 ships built to this pattern survived the war. Electra had an adventurous career and disappeared during the battle of the Java Sea in February of 1942. Lt.-Comdr Cain also tells of the struggles of the survivors of the ship during their trip to Australia after the sinking. A good, but anecdotal read. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
