John was one of the most famous musicians in the world who grew up to spread a message of peace and protest to war. His messages and music has inspired many many people around the world. I didn't know that John Lennon was interested in being a poet and an artist. John was even in art school for some time, but didn't keep up because of his love and passion for guitar. I also didn't know how much American music had inspired John to want to make Rock n' Roll. I thought it was great whenever Rappaport wrote that John saw the feelings of heartbreak and lonelinesss in Rock music and that it inspired him to share those feelings he had always tried to keep hidden. The organization of this book was very clever. On one side of the page there was information that talked about John's life in a chronological order, and in the illustrations of those pages were lyrics that he had written that reflected the moment in his life that was being discussed on that page. This was great at giving a relevancy to the secondary source information written by Rappaport by giving the audience a primary source through John's lyrics in order to offer deeper context to the writing. This book did a good job at covering the entire life of John Lennon from beginning to end. ( ) The story is a biography because it was based on the life of the John Lennon. He is the member of the Beatles. The book used lots of quate of John himself which makes the readers feel closer to his life experience. The illustration in this book is very creative.
