A great addition to the CitizenKid series about the necessity of basic health care. ( ) PSC Review: Here’s another informative book from the CitizenKid series. The fictionalized story of a Mimi and her family in Kenya will introduce many readers to the health problems an African village experiences. From water to malaria bearing mosquitos, we get to see how important the health care volunteer is in providing basic health care. After the story are facts about the importance of basic health care and what’s being done to solve it. If you want to introduce kids to another part of the world and show challenges that people are solving, I’d recommend all the books in this series. The website that goes will the series is also useful. Consider teaming this book up with Park’s Long Walk to Water. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"Mimi's fictional village is like thousands of real villages in the developing world, where health care, especially among infants and children, is poor or uneven. As a result, every day, 21,000 children under the age of five die, most of them from diseases that could have been prevented with basic health care."--Front jacket flap.
