As far as I am aware previous to Charles Merrill Smith's series on Reverend Randolloph the majority of what I label ecclesiastical mysteries were Catholic (e.g.; Father Brown, Father Dowling, Father Koesler) and Jewish (Rabbi Small). When I discovered Reverend Randolloph I was excited to find another religion. One aspect of ecclesiastical mysteries I like is the discussion of real issues, should priests marry, women as priests. However this was not the case with Smith but I liked his books because they were the opposite of all the others. "The "Chicago Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd" where Randollph (an ex-football player) is said to be based, is on the bottom floors of a glass and steel skyscraper office block that includes a luxury hotel but comes complete with a gothic spire on the very top, with an octagonal penthouse parsonage immediately below it." These books reveal the humourous rather than the religious side of ecclesiastical mysteries. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
