The lead character, Kate Huntington, is a psychotherapist who is being stalked by one of her clients. I enjoyed the portrayal of the therapy sessions and also seeing Kate’s take on the actions of other people. She is even able to do some self-analysis as her emotions swing between grief, joy, and terror. It is obvious that Kate (as well as the author) knows her stuff. I’m fascinated by psychology so this novel was definitely a win for me. My only difficulty was the sheer number of characters. Kate has a big entourage of friends, family, colleagues and clients, and sometimes it was hard for me to remember who was who. But I enjoyed the many supportive relationships between all the friends and family. We should all be so blessed! I plan to check out Lamb’s other titles and add them to my bottomless TBR pile. After having read the fifth book in this series, am beginning to go back to read from the beginning. I'm not really a fan of thrillers, nor of murder mysteries, yet, I really, really like these books. Kate is an unusual character - gutsy, smart, able to take the lead but also willing to let others lead. I am NOT a fan of the cover - to me, it looks like something from the 19th century. And I felt that where the book slowed down was all the "war councils" where everyone got to have their say. I think the story would've been tighter if they were each cut by about a third. But I liked that there was a substantial network of friends and allies working to solve this together. I also appreciated that when someone was injured (I won't say who) he/she did not immediately leap from death's door to superheroic action figure in two paragraphs; actual time to recover was required. I found the ending surprising but not implausible, and enjoyed seeing the development of Rose Hernandez from still uniformed cop to major player. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Psychotherapist Kate Huntington helps other people cope with the horrible things that have happened to them, but she herself has led a charmed life... until now. When a series of what seem like random events?a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time?takes a sinister twist, it becomes apparent that she and her lawyer friend, Rob Franklin, have a common enemy. But the lead police detective has a different theory. He?s convinced Kate and Rob are lovers attempting to eliminate their spouses. And he seems determined to build a case against them. As the attacks escalate, Kate and Rob are forced to investigate on their own. Who hates them enough to want them both dead? And doesn?t seem to mind if others get caught in the crossfire! When it seems that the detective in charge - Phillips - does not take them seriously, they and their friends have to find the killer.
Found it difficult to believe that someone like this detective was still in the police force. ( )
