Fiction. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) HTML:

Brent is a jock, Logan a geek; these men are a world apart. But if opposites attract, maybe it's the differences between them that make it worth the fight.

Brent Kelly is a laid-back electrician whose only concerns are drinks with friends and which man to bed next. In need of a new accountant to sort out his nightmarish shoebox of tax receipts, he's referred to Logan Willis.

He doesn't expect to be intrigued by the science fiction-loving, geeky guy with dark-rimmed glasses and a TARDIS-blue shirt. So his fascination with the soft-spoken Englishman surprises him, and their mutual attraction is completely unexpected. He most certainly never expects to fall in love.

One a jock and the other a geek, both men know the differences between them are vast and could cause problems. But in this opposites-attract erotic drama, maybe it's the differences between them that make staying together worth the fight.

It's a shame I didn't comment on this book when I listened to it about a month ago. I would have had a lot more to say as it was a first rate opposites attract romance. Brent and Logan are almost stereotypical in their jock and geek personas - that's how the blurb defines them. But they are much more than their stereotypes as evidenced by their attraction to someone who is sufficiently unlike themselves that they find the other intriguing and stimulatingly different. I liked their confidence to give each other a go.

The blurb sums up the books so well, that I'm cut-and-pasting it here to remind me of the fun read. The book's title is also a winner - Tardis is the name of Dr Who's telephone booth.

Happy #pridemonth, y’all! Next up on my #pride readathon is TAXES AND TARDIS by N. R. Walker. Brent, a laidback jock of an electrician, finds in his new accountant, Logan, an unlikely attraction. Logan is nothing like the other men Brent usually finds himself attracted to: he’s a slim, glasses-wearing, Doctor Who-loving geek. But there’s something about Logan that Brent can’t help but find irresistible, and as the two men get to know each other more, they find neither can help themselves or their list and love for the other.

Super cute story. LOVED IT.
And no, my rating has nothing to do with me being a Dr. Who fan. *cough* ( )

If you want a quick read..

Not a bad story, just short and quick read for an hour or two.

No substance, mild geek. And an overuse of 'baby' during sex. ( )

Matching up a sophisticated accountant with a somewhat rough electrician provided an interesting premise for this story. The fact that Dr Who of all things is what actually brings them together made me smile. Lots of fun is had as the American electrician is taught the finer points of that particular series while the British accountant has more fun teaching him than he ever expected. One of the most entertaining ‘cultural exchanges’ I have ever read about resulted, and it was so funny and touching at the same time that I’m still smiling.

Brent is an electrician who thinks he is less than smart. He certainly has a hard time dealing with numbers, hence his need for an accountant. I loved reading about him falling for a guy who is so unlike his usual type of man. The constant surprise and slight hesitations were very well done, and the lack of initial comfort was palpable. It gave the story an extra edge to learn, along with Brent who tells the story, that his preconceived ideas about many things might not be as ‘unchangeable’ as he assumed. Sharing his surprise and joy as he slowly opens up to Logan was a special treat.

Logan is a somewhat nerdy accountant who is clearly interested in Brent, but utterly surprised at the same time. Even though we do not hear from his point of view, the way Brent describes his reactions and how he talks about him makes it very clear that Logan is as ‘shocked’ about their mutual attraction as Brent. I guess they are very lucky that the surprise and discoveries are mutual and seen as positive by both of them.

Liking, and knowing about Dr Who, by the way, is totally optional! This story works very well without even knowing who or what he is, but being a fan might lead to a few more smiles as you read. If you like stories where opposites attract, where the interest and fascination with a new lover is totally surprising, and where each encounter between the sheets serves to confirm how right they are together, you will probably like this cute novella.
