Janie Chisholm has trouble telling the truth; lies just seem to slip from her lips before she can stop them. Her family is aware of her habit of being untruthful and are exasperated by it. The only people Janie doesn't lie to are her godmother, Matilda Barry, and her eldest brother, David. One day Janie meets a new friend, Lisa, and eventually discovers that Lisa lies even more than Janie. Janie is determined to have nothing to do with her, and is quite dismayed when Tilly brings Janie's friend Pam AND Lisa to the point where Janie is spending the summer with Tilly. The addition of the two girls is supposed to be a birthday present for Janie, but Janie is not happy to have Lisa invading her special space, especially not when Lisa said she'd be "bored to tears" in such a place. Janie does manage to tolerate Lisa's presence and even grows enough to extend a hand of friendship by the end of the book. This is an enjoyable read, the flavor of which reminded me of Anne of Green Gables. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Janie Chisholm doesn't really mean to tell lies. It's just that sometimes her stories get out of control and it gets her into trouble. No one in her family takes her seriously, and she's not very well liked at school. So Janie is thrilled when her grandmother offers to take her to the cottage in the summer. Just when she thinks she's gotten away from everything, Lisa, a girl Janie knows from home, has been invited to stay over and could ruin everything. Can she and Lisa become real friends?
