Fiction. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) HTML:

Jason Davis can handle a breakup. And an overwhelming mortgage. And a struggling business. And the excruciating pain that keeps him up at night thanks to a shoulder injury. But all of it at once? Not so much. When his shoulder finally pushes him to a breaking point, Jason takes a friend's advice and gives acupuncture a try.

Acupuncturist Michael Whitman is a single dad struggling to make ends meet. When a mutual friend refers Jason as a patient, and Jason suggests a roommate arrangement to alleviate their respective financial strains, Michael jumps at the opportunity.

But Jason soon finds himself regretting itâ??he's too damn attracted to Michael, and living with him is harder than he thought it'd be. In fact, the temptation to act on his feelings would almost be too much if not for the fact that Michael is straight. Or at least, that's what their mutual friend claims.… (más)

I enjoyed this light, easy book. It was a very typical beach read. The plot is entirely believable and uncomplicated. I liked both Jason and Michael and they worked together well. Not Witt's best but it won't let you down. ( )

I really enjoyed this introduction to Tucker Springs. L.A. Witt did a great job of setting the scene for the fictional town that is the setting for the whole series. I liked getting to know Jason and Michael. Jason is in chronic and constant pain from an injury and this was very well written. Michael struggled with being gay (he had ignored those feelings for years and ended up getting married and having a son), and had difficulties acknowledging his feelings for Jason and that they could have a future together. Once he got over that, they were good to go. I really liked Michael's ex-wife and his son. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of the Tucker Springs guys. ( )

3.5 stars. Enjoyable summer read. A little sluggish in the middle, but over all a well written novel. ( )

This did not feel like a L.A. Witt book. The sex came late in the story and I did not feel the emotional connection that I have in the past. I liked the character of Jason. I related to him. Mike's character was fine, although there was time when it felt too angsty.

The ending felt rushed, almost like this was the end of Act 1. It had a "happy for right now ending" rather than a HEA.

Not saying I did not like it, just didn't love it. ( )

Romantic and kinda cuddly. This is not a great m/m romance but a good one none the less. The two lead characters have depths. More Jason then Michael who's main drive is to admit he is gay after all. Michael does waver all through the novella and Jason has more patience than a saint. Jason's chronic shoulder pain is well done and real. You suffer along with him. This is a romantic tale of man meets man who is not ready to admit he loves man but none the less fall in love. The secondary characters are a bit too ideal best friend, incredible kid and lovely ex but overall it does deliver a nice couple of hours of reading. ( )
