Pot boiler thriller short story that is supposed to exemplify how Richard Castle became a celebrated and best-selling (albeit fictional) author. Adequately over-the-top and predictable. ( )

Fun, but there were some continuity errors that just bugged me. I didn't enjoy it as much as the Nikki Heat books but it was a good hot summer afternoon read. ( )

Meh. Not good or great, but not horrible either. Decent start to a series... ( )

Ah, Derrick Storm. I liked this short story...and it would have gotten 4 stars if it were a bit longer. I did like that the story moved along very well and that no details seemed to be left out. About halfway through I was able to guess who was involved in the kidnapping. The twist at the end of the 2 different groups being involved was very interesting and well planned. The ending of this part of the trilogy was interesting as well...I definitely wasn't expecting that. This little 3 part series is definitely worth the read... ( )

[Detailed review is available at: http://thinkerviews.com/books/brewing-storm-richard-castle-ebook-short-trilogy-r... ]

A Brewing Storm is first Short featuring fictional detective Derrick Storm by fictional writer Richard Castle. It seems that the popularity of famous US TVSeries - Castle - made a way for many people to earn riding the popularity of the same. The protagonist of the TV Series Richard Castle is an author who wrote murder mysteries and detective fictions. So one or many authors acquired pseudonym of Richard Castle to write fictional.

This book is quite gripping for sure. The twists and turn will make to go for it. The introductory scene will give you the feelings of deja vu if you are fond of films like Rambo, Commando etc. It is very tough to write a short, as you have limited space to build the characters and weave gripping incidents around the same. The writer is able to do it nicely. Also the last two pages will make you waiting eagerly for the second second book in the series.

What you may not like is the length of the book. It is a short - and hence it is short. It may be found like an episode of the TV Series. One more thing to note, we bought the book (Kindle Edition) when it was offered under USD 1. But when posting this review we see the price is higher than this. No doubt the book is good. But based on its length, not worth to pay more than USD 1 (i.e. Don't pay more than INR 50-60 for it, as per our suggestion) for the same.

We would like to give 3.5 stars to this book. ( )
