Gift from Elke for L's 5th birthday This is a fun book to share with the little cooks in your family. It is loaded with recipes, but the unique thing is that they’re all tied to various fairy tales. Something I especially enjoyed was that there are bits of history and tips along the sides of the pages. (p. 117, #5 is a fave) Note: Many of the recipes are quite basic, nothing new to me. However, I did copy down a recipe for “Seaweed Stuffed Shells” (which is really spinach & ricotta stuffed pasta shells), as this looks like something my family of picky eaters might actually eat! Readers will find both folktales and recipes in this colorful collection. After enjoying the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, young cooks, along with their grown-up helpers, can turn the page to find recipes for all of the goodies in Red's picnic basket. The story of Jack and the Beanstalk introduces a recipe for Jack's Magic Party Beans. The Fox and the Grapes, an Aesop fable, is followed by a recipe for fruit salad. Both recipes and folktales include detailed margin notes providing more information about tale versions and food trivia. Although the recipes themselves do not include photographs, each folktale is illustrated in full color. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
