An interesting book, well written, although a lot of the Wall Street stuff went over my head. But there was good pacing, good characters and good story development. Ready to start on the second one. ( ) 3.75 stars. Jason Stafford is paroled from prison, and comes home to find his wife has fled south with their autistic son. Jason is tapped to investigate irregularities at a securities firm, and quickly finds there is a significant fraud. Meanwhile, he brings his son back to NYC, and is then assaulted by his ex-wife's psycho husband. Fast-paced, but over the top at various points. This is a well written redemption story that I found thoroughly enjoyable. The main character, Jason Stafford, is engaging, realistic, and likeable. Author Michael Sears did a superb job with this first novel and I will undoubtably continue with this series. Jason's relationship with his autistic son turned me inside-out emotionally. Just fantastic, Mr. Sears. I "read" the Library of Congress Talking Books version, excellently narrated by Jason Culp. The first in a crime series, this novel features a financial trader who has just been released after serving 2 years in jail. He is hired by a firm to uncover any financial irregularities prior to an anticipated SEC investigation after the suspicious death of one of its traders. More interesting to me than the mystery was the protagonist's relationship with his autistic son, "the Kid", his efforts to obtain custody from his unstable ex=wife, and his coming to terms with the trials of living with an autistic child. As a crime novel, this book was barely ok. As a father/son story it was half-way decent. What a surprisingly good book! I picked this up in the Barnes and Noble clearance section with little hope that it would be good and I actually ended up with a winner! Very well written, characters that are fully drawn and impossible not to become engaged with - just an all around great read. This book also depicts autism in a very realistic, respectful way. I know many of us were hoping that the last book from [a:Lisa Genova|978484|Lisa Genova|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1223921088p2/978484.jpg], [b:Love Anthony|13547381|Love Anthony|Lisa Genova|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1339757265s/13547381.jpg|19112521] would fit that bill of telling a great story about autism, and in my opinion it failed miserably. Nevertheless, this was a great read and I am looking forward to reading the rest in the series. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
