Now, exacting justice by their own code, they long to feel human as they contain the beast within ever since his cousin Adelaide disappeared, Cole Cameron has been searching for her-and for Isaiah Jones, whom he blames for her kidnapping, after a hellacious fight in town involving-if the stories of drunken saloon goers were to be believed-men who changed into wolves. Being a practical man, Cole doesn't believe it. Then he is rescued from a pack of strangely intelligent wolves by none other than his quarry, Isaiah, who brings him to a hidden valley where the Shadow Reapers have settled, where he is reunited with Adelaide-and where he finds the beautiful Miranda. Cole is determined to hunt down Addie and bring her back home, only to find her happy and unwilling to leave. While the Reapers determine what to do with him he finds himself drawn to Miranda and protecting her and her child. He does not want to become a Reaper and that is a big part of the storyline. We also learn a bit more about the Reapers and that there are more out there that might not be friendly.

~ 3 Reaper Stars ~

Reaper's Vow is book two in Sarah McCarty's Shadow Reapers series. I held out hope that this one would be better then the first and I would be able to get into the historical paranormal romance, but I just couldn't. I pushed myself to finish. Some questions where answered for me from book one Reaper's Justice, but more question arose. It felt like the author is not sure on what direction or conflicts she wants to have in this series with her Reapers. I was left feeling confused and befuddled bye the end with more questions then answers.

The world gets flushed out a little more and we get to see more of Addy & Isaiah, who where the main characters from Reaper's Justice. It was good to see where Isaiah & Addy are at. That they are trying to bring the Reapers together as a pack and make a home with those that want to change how they live as well as those Reapers that have not gone insane yet. Wendy, the little girl, Miranda's daughter I liked. She is very perspective and understands more then what the adults think. I like that Cole gets her and is understanding towards her.

As for the main characters Cole & Miranda they where ok. Cole is an arrogant ass, but he is also caring and very protective of his family and what is his. I finally got to learn more about him. In Reaper's Justice book one I had questions and they got answered for me here with his book. Miranda is a women beaten down by life and circumstances. I understand at one time she was a strong women and lost that part of herself. Her character development did not feel right and I just could not get into her. I would have enjoyed a women who stood up for herself. As for the relationship between Cole and Miranda the author did a great job making that connection. You can feel them coming together and the sexual tension was high. The sex scene's were well written and very hot.

My issue revolves around the Reapers. Their is still no clear indication of what a Reaper is. The Reapers no nothing about themselves and the council is making laws that should not be made until they know more. The "deiced all" attitude of the council irritated me. The Insisting of a child needing to stay around because she could be a mate is just wrong on so many levels. And forcing a women to mate because their is some type of Reaper attraction on one side did not work for me. Plus said Reaper already has a wife. It just did not work for me. I understand women have very little rites back then, but I could not get into this. The Reapers as a whole are just to confusing in this series. Nothing is clear.

I'm sad to say this series is not for me. Just to many questions are left un-answered as well as feeling confused and befuddled throughout the story. I really wanted to like this series, but it never worked out. I'm not sure if I'll try out her other works since this is my first experience reading this author, maybe.

Nice love story. Good plot development mixed with social injustice. ( )
