A Top 10 Bestseller from a New York Times Bestselling Author England, 1667: Sensible Clarice Bradford is content in her widowhood. She has a pretty one-room cottage and a lovely little daughter, and the last thing she wants is another husband. Until one fairytale evening when she's invited to a wedding at a castle...Scottish gentleman Sir Cameron Leslie is smitten with the shy, English beauty at first sight. SENSUALITY RATING: No PROFANITY; One SEXUAL ENCOUNTER; No Euphemistic "CODE WORDS

GENRE: 17th century; Historical English Romance; England

SETTING: Cainewood Village.

CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: CLARICE BRADFORD – a commoner; enjoys the simple uncomplicated life with just she and her daughter; sure about her place in life.

CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: CAMERON LESLIE – enjoys life in a simple way; easy going; uncomplicated; age 24; responsible; newly titled; from Leslie castle in Scotland.

SYNOPSIS: He has but a few days before he must return to his home in Scotland. He has but a few days to convince her how attracted he is to her. Will age difference get in the way? That is one of her main concerns. The other, she has been married before to a cruel man and now prefers life alone; just she and her daughter.

WHAT I LIKED: Mary is as cute as a button with her personality.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Kissing, kissing and kissing. A little kissing too much.

RATING: (4) stars BECAUSE the plot was guess-able (my made-up word). No real adventure. The conflict often boring. ( )

Cameron Leslie, I love you. Clarice is one lucky lady.

Sweet, short novella told from Clarice and Cameron's point of view after Cait and Jason's wedding. I want more of their story, but this will have to do. ( )

They'd sent a carriage to take her to the castle. In all her thirty-one years, Clarice Bradford had never ridden in a carriage. Gingerly she climbed inside and perched on the leather seat, settling the pink skirts of her Sunday gown.
Dressed in blue to match her eyes, Clarice’s five-year-old daughter bounced up and down on the seat opposite. “I’ve been in this carriage, Mama. When Lord Cainewood brought me to live with you.

"You’ll be a lady within the hour,” .... “You may as well get used to it.”
Now, I’m not a lord, Mrs. Bradford. I told you that yesterday.
She is sleekit, but cold underneath, aye? I won’t be going back to her now.
I suppose you should know I cannot cook. That’s why I require a wife.
Now. Just leave me alone, like you should have in the first place.
