"Pleasure was an elusive dream... Alicia Hartwell has never experienced the pleasure of passion. Despite all her efforts to comprehend the notion of romantic love, it has remained an utterly foreign concept to her. Resigned to the life of a spinster, Alicia is therefore stunned when she receives a marriage proposal from the highly eligible bachelor, Lord Carstairs. ...until she met him. I've read it because it's very short and easy, but did I enjoy it? No.
My problem is that I couldn't see much spark, no character depth. They were just token characters. Lord Carstairs is such and such... Include handsome, powerfully build, angsty and aloof. Check. Lady Alicia is such and such... Beautiful, innocent and very willing to go for it all in sexual explorations straight away. Check.
The world-building is non-existent. There is this powerful group of Sorcerers and Catalysts working for the government against Fae in England. Why? How did it start? Why are they fighting each other? I haven't had a clue.
*sigh*
Overall, it's readable but only if you have nothing else at the moment and need to pass the time. ( )
