I thought that I might hate the series due to the fact that the first book sounds so much like "Vampire Academy" but I'm glad that I didn't give up the series. OR rather, the series has been sucking me in and luring me to complete it.

It's nice to see how Alex has grown from the first book all the way to the last. She's grown so much that I fell in love with her character more as I continue with the book. Not to mention the love Aiden has for her. The unwavering love that he has for her kept me going back to the series. ( )

Felt a little slow compared to the other books. I like the ending. ( )

Okay, I'm really thinking 4.5, but it may also be the low after a really high high- if you get my drift. It's like coming of a roller coaster to a sudden stop, you may sway around a bit just to get your bearings before you know if you're gonna hurl or not.

I understand some of the criticisms of this last installment (about the pregnancy -first chapters, no real spoiler- and the English "love" thing), but I think the ending while fulfilling in a "give me the ending I want, d@mmit!" was also if not rushed, a bit confusing?. I mean, I think I'm supposed to be happy, but am I?

The series overall sucked me in, and I was down for the ride. In French they say "manger les livres" [which roughly translates to "devour the books"], which I totally did. I loved the idea of Greek gods actually still living on Olympus and what would a society of their "children" and their children be like living next to regular mortals; a society built on the halfs and half-nots, if you will. Very interesting concept. Ms. Armentrout has a way of making her characters suffer and twist in the wind that is so excruciatingly fun to read. I think from reading this series and a few of her others that this one is earlier in her writing career, I only say that because while the imaginative twists and what ifs are still there, her later work is more defined to her specific writing style. In essence, you can see/read her growth as a writer. I will note that I cringed a bit whenever a reference to popular culture was mentioned in the books, if nothing else but because it will date the series. [Yea, I cringe for authors when they do that. It's timely now, but in 15 years when that show is long forgotten and the next generation is reading it going, "wha-?" Now, I'm just airing my personal issues. I need to stop.]

Now that is how you end a series. I loved every single book and this one just tied them all together in an amazing ending. It was soo good. It had me feeling so many things. And the action during those last chapters was like wow! It left me breathless. Really enjoyed this series and Im glad I picked up in the first place. Cause it really took me for a ride. I will miss these characters so much. ( )
