On March 25, 1931, three eighteen-year-old Southerners started their day not knowing that the events soon to transpire in Scottsboro, Alabama would have a direct impact on their young lives. The Scottsboro Boys events led the South on a slow, but inexorable, climb toward the Civil Rights movement and the abolishment of segregation. Our Southern Home uses the life stories of these three young people to tie together the critical historical events of the twentieth century that led to these monumental transformations.
