There were some good points in this series, and I really liked the art style, but the overall verdict was... meh. Weird relationship dynamics, a Mary Sue for an MC, random goofs and filler, and a huge scoop of deus ex machina to wrap everything up.

I don't know why I keep trying to finish mangas from years if not decades ago - I was probably better off with the childhood memories of this being good, than finding out the hard way that this series didn't age well at all. Oh well. I guess that's what happens when you've greatly outgrown the target audience... ( )

Ugh. Curse you, deus ex machina. Once again you reared your ugly head, and with it, any hopes for a decent ending for this series. In addition to the ending straight out of left field, the fact that the last volume had about little more than half the normal volume content, with the rest filled with filler makes this for a very disappointing volume.

I don't know if the author lost control of the pace of the story, or if 'Full Moon o Sagashite' was given a last minute cut that precluded a more satisfying ending, but in the end, the results were a big disappointment, for what has been a somewhat entertaining series that focused on such unusual topics, such as suicide, the hearafter, and second chances.

With the deus ex machina, all the sacrifices the character made in the series ended up feeling moot, as if all their dramatic weight just evaporated under the ridiculous circumstances of an unbelievable happy ending for everybody.

Next time I need an incomprehensible rational as an endpoint explanation for it all, instead of the usual soap opera, all I need to do is think of 'Full Moon o Sagashite' again. ( )
