MASTER OF SIN by Maggie Robinson is a very exciting historical romance set in 1820 Italy and Scotland. It is ”The Courtesan Court” Series book #4,but can be read as a stand alone. See,”Mistress By Mistake”,”Mistress By Midnight”,and “Mistress By Marriage”. Follow Gemma Peartree,a virginal governess ,or so it seems, but she has a secret and Andrew Rossiter,a man who enjoys his pleasures, has a scandal or two and would do anything for his young son as they find love, passion, desire, danger and hopefully a bit of peace along the way and did I mention alot of passion and sparks. A fast paced story from the first page to the last. I read “Master of Sin” in one setting it was that captivating. Ms. Robinson is a wonderful storyteller who writes captivating stories with a bit of scandalous delight.A must read.I Received for an honest review from the publisher. Details can be found at Brava, published by Kensington Publishing Corp, the author’s website, and My Book Addiction and More. I didn't go into this book with high hopes. Andrew was a character that I didn't really like in the previous book and less than stellar reviews here had me being skeptical but despite all of that I enjoyed the book.
Andrew grows as a character and I can appreciate that. I also liked the banter between him and Gemma at the start. They were a good match overall and bonus points for not having a love at first sight romance (man, I hate those).
I think if there was a little more action with the beginning plot (ie, why Andrew has to rescue his son) I would have enjoyed it more.
A great way to end the series if you have been following it, but it could also be read as a stand-alone as well.
