Jennifer Bernard’s debut novel The Fireman Who Loved Me is a sweet romance with a dash of spicy lovemaking. A matchmaking Grandma, a sassy heroine and a battalion of sexy firemen are the perfect ingredients for one hot read. To read my review in its entirety, please visit http://www.bookreviewsandmorebykathy.com/2012/04/18/the-fireman-who-loved-me/ Full review to be posted soon: I have mixed feelings about this book, the romance was great and the overall tone had a fun and quirky vibe to it. I enjoyed the witty and humourous scenes, however at the halfway point I really got annoyed by the side characters which overwhelmed the story. I really felt that too much was going on at the end and it felt forced especially Brody and Melissa's exes and Ella Joy. They also overshadowed the plot which involved Melissa's grandmother and I thought that was detrimental to the story and characterisation and the romantic conclusion suffered at the end. This was a rather cute story involving a lady journalist and a fireman. I decided to read this book after spotting the cover on GR and found it mostly enjoyable. Captain Brody was appropriately drool-worthy, especially if you have a thing for firefighters (which I do.) I also particularly enjoyed a few of the side-characters, including the two "villains" of the story. Melissa's ex and the extremely annoying Ella. I kind of like that they found each other and I almost wish the dysfunction of their relationship could've been further developed. Melissa's grandmother was also fairly likable even if her last ditch effort to get Melissa and Brody together did seem kind of crazy and a bit outlandish. This book would have been four stars if not for two things, one being that I didn't care for our heroine, Melissa, overly much. At times I found her both abrasive and rude. The second reason is because most of the conflict between the hero and heroine could have been resolved if they had just talked to each other. I will probably pick up the second book in the series and hope that the heroine of that book is more to my liking. I already know I like Ryan (the hero in the next book) and I'm looking forward to seeing him live out his affirmations. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The first book in Jennifer Bernard's Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel series, The Fireman Who Loved Me is sizzling hot and sure to fire up contemporary romance lovers everywhere! Set in a California firehouse where all the fire fighters are gorgeous and single, The Fireman Who Loved Me follows the romantic exploits of Captain Brody of Station 52 who inadvertently becomes the prize at a charity "bachelor auction" and is won by a sweet, meddling old lady who turns him over to her husbandless, local TV news producer granddaughter. A great new voice with a very sexy edge, Jennifer Bernard is like the Kristin Higgins of firemen, and fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips--and the fireman romances of Jo Davis--will be burning for more.
