Summary: This is a collection of spooky poems about monsters and ghouls. One of the poems is about how monster moms talk about how scary their babies are, "mine has sharp and dreadful claws". Another poem that stuck out was about a mean old monster named Grool, and some kids decided to tie balloons to him so he would float away.

Personal Reactions: This is a cute book with really detailed illustrations that were perfect for the poems. I do think some of these poems could be a little scary for smaller kiddos, though.

Classroom Extensions: 1. Have the kids make up their own spooky monster!
2. This would be a fun Halloween book to read, so maybe read it before a Halloween party.
3. Have the kids write their own poems! They don't have to be very scary, one of the poems is basically about how much a little girl hates spinach! ( )
