-The party invitations that used to read "Bring Bottles and First Aid kit. 8pm till police raid" now say "Ben is one. Help us celebrate. Please leave quietly before afternoon nap." It seems that life is moving on but Dag is not quite ready to move with it. When his fiancée acutely becomes pregnant, Dag panics, and begins an affair with the much younger Cat. But when Cat announces her pregnancy, Dag is faced with a terrifying dilemma that Barrowcliffe paints with his signature with and humor. Very British indeed but enjoyable. In can be difficult to get into solely on the fact that the main character, Dagman is totally unlikable. Much of the book has him waffling between levels of commitment, responsibility and attachment. The supporting cast of his fiancée, business partner and mistress are very colorful and expressive and really make the in-decisive, unlikable lead plausible and readable. The writing style is jaunty but playful and expressive. The humor is sly and while not particularly cerebral, it is enjoyable. Not the blackest of comedies, perhaps more gray but enjoyable.

Tenho de concordar que "Barrowcliffe pens a few funny scenes here and there, but the occasional chuckle can't save this thinly plotted tale from an abundance of unfocused writing that fails to tickle the funny bone". O livro tem realmente algumas partes engraçadas, mas que não compensam pelo resto, pela muita "conversa" que não adianta realmente nada à história.
Também não ajuda que não se goste muito do Dag, um tipo que não se decide, que não sabe o que quer, que tanto diz que gosta é da noiva como afinal o amor da vida dele é a namorada... Claro que tinha de acabar com as decisões a serem tomadas por ele, e Sua Excª continua o fraco do resto do livro.
Enfim, a ideia é engraçada, podia ter dado uma história realmente com piada, mas tem muitas falhas e não nos traz nada de novo. ( )
