I received this ebook through a Librarything.com giveaway. This historical fiction, set in 1855, tells the story of settlers in the Kansas Territory. The main character is a 13 year-old who moves with her family to Kansas to open a store. It desribes the struggle between pro-slavery and free state settlers. I enjoyed it, and learned something about Kansas. It is written for older elementary and middle school-aged children. The book is fairly well written, and appears to be well researched. It includes copies of historical documents.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I enjoyed the book. I didn't know about the history of Kansas at all. The way it was written was good and easy to follow for the age group. The clips at the beginning of the chapters is a nice interesting touch. I found a couple of spots where a word was missing, but other than that, it was good reading. It was good to hear of the struggles that new states had around the slavery issue. I could picture so much of the story in my head; well written.sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
