Each poem is brief enough to invite memorization. The illustrations for this book were done in pencil, watercolor, and pastel on 185 gsm Arches water colored paper. The pictures are warm and inviting and capture the message of each poem in a tasteful and charming way. ( ) This is a great collection to keep in your classroom. It organizes the poetry within different themes (ex: seasons, animals, food, happiness, sorrow) and includes beloved poets such as Robert Frost, Ezra Pound, Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes, and John Keats (just to name a few!). There is plenty of variety that could suit students from preschool all the way up to middle school (and perhaps even beyond). I didn't find this book of poetry particularily enticing. I like that it is a compelation so students can get exposure to a lot of different authors styles of writing. I thought the poem the days have names was very clever, I had never thaught about the fact that we name the days and the months but not the weeks. I really enjoyed the Langston Hughes Poem named "Poem", I thought it was a really great explination of how a poem doesnt have to be as complex as many people like to make them up to be, a poem can just be a poem. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
