Not being an expert on the folklore of Scotland, I can't comment on the accuracy of the stories told within this collection, but I can comment on what it was like to enjoy them. This isn't the type of collection where you sit down and read right through. In order to properly enjoy, I would suggest you take one or two at a time for a little quick reading. The style of the telling of these folk tales changes and jumps from tale to tale, some are in colloquial form, some are not, others shift from traditional storytelling to something more like a written book, with characters telling the tales to each other. None of these elements make for "cover to cover" reading, but they do fine for satisfying a craving for something traditional or as a handy tool to jump start the imagination.
