It talks about slavery and how Abraham Lincoln thought it was wrong and how he didn't like it. It also explains how the country went to was because he wanted to make sure the slaves were free and everyone needed to be treated equal. Personal Reaction: I think this is another great way to introduce history to young readers. The pictures in it were really good and the words are easy for young children to understand. I also love that there are lots of other "My first Biography" books like this one that teachers can use in the classroom. Classroom Extension: 1. I would definitely use this book during a history lesson with young children. It seems way easier for them to comprehend than trying to explain to them. And the pictures would help hold their attention better. 2. We could make puppets and do a little puppet show about Abraham Lincoln. It's very important for students to learn about the men and women that help America get to where they are. Abraham Lincoln's story is told by the life he lived before he became famous and on to how he got there. This is a great read for young children and opens their mind into having an idea of what history is and how important it is to know where you come from. Biography books are challengeing to understand at times but with the pictures that are provide in this book helps it make it easier to understand. I think this is a very useful book, especially for those students who are younger. The text and language in these selection is very simple and short. The pictures are what bring the story. they support the one or two sentences on each page to help the beginning readers. I think this would be a good book for those emergent readers who are just learning to read. The language is simple so they can decipher words and the pictures are also extremely helpful. The main idea of this story is to see Lincoln's life before he was famous as well as how he got there. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

I think this book is wonderful for younger children. It is written in a way that is easy to understand and doesn't give to much information that could be confusing at a young age.
Classroom Activities:
1. I would have the students drawn a picture of President Lincoln and hand them on my bulletin board for all the other students to see.
2. We would talk about how treating people with respect is important no matter what race they may be.
3. I would read Presidents Lincoln's famous speech to the students.
