Soon to be a major motion picture starring Kristen Connelly, Joan Allen, and Anthony La Paglia, Stephen King's short story, "A Good Marriage" from Full Dark, No Stars is now available as a stand-alone audio edition! Bob Anderson, Darcy's husband of more than twenty years, is away on one of his business trips, when his unsuspecting wife looks for batteries in the garage. Her toe knocks up against a box under a worktable and she discovers she doesn't know her husband at all, but rather has been living with a stranger. This horrifying discovery, rendered with bristling intensity, could be the end of what Darcy though was a good marriage…… (más)

This is typical King with a twist at the end. It's a quick read. ( )

Sorry, but this is NOT one of King's better works! The story was good, just predictable, which is not one of Stephen King's known traits. SPOILER ALERT: This story follows Darcy Anderson's perfectly ordinary marriage to Bob. They have two children that they both love and the children love them. They have a side business that consists of buying and selling coins. Bob takes trips all over the country to look at coin sets for his business. Darcy stays home and takes care of the business side of things. One night, while Bob is gone on business, she stumbles across a box of catalogs that she thinks Bob has put there to keep her from buying things from them. Inside this box, she finds a questionable magazine. The kind that she would never think that Bob would buy. She then stumbles across a hiding place behind the boxes. Inside this hiding place, she finds evidence that Bob may be a serial killer. She researches the dates of the killings and figures out that Bob was close to these areas when he was off "buying coins". Bob comes home and figures out that Darcy knows. He just has to figure out if Darcy will turn him in, or will she live with it. Darcy decides to get justice herself. To get justice for the families of the victims of the killer. A few months later, someone comes along asking questions about the serial killer. He finds out the truth and basically just goes home. Darcy gets her justice and all is well that ends well.

Sorry to ruin the book for you, but honestly, there is not much "ruining" that can happen with this one. ( )

A GOOD MARRIAGE BY STEPHEN KING: I have been a Stephen King fan for many many years. I am not saying that I like all Kings books because that would be a lie. So when I tell you that A GOOD MARRIAGE, a King short story is ten stars I mean its GREAT! This is old school King, meaning that the book starts out innocent enough( a woman describing her marriage) and concludes with an ending that is so typical King. I have always thought that his short stories are always his best efforts, and A GOOD MARRIAGE is no different. ( )

If you like Stephen King, you'll like this (This is also new movie that has just come out!)! What would you do if you found out something bad about your spouse -- something really bad! This novella makes you think about this scenario and what you might be able to live with, or -- maybe not.... I don't want to give anything away, because it's really short (only 100 pages), but it's pretty scary to think about! ( )

Stephen King can even write a fairly short book! I was surprised when I started this audio version that he was the author---I just wasn't paying attention---but as usual, he gets right into the subject with all of the surrounding mystery. I sort of gave up on his more gruesome books a while back so this was a nice surprise---yes, not in the least cheerful, but definitely a story. ( )
