Nice mix of old and new stories. My only complaint about it (and it's a weird one that has nothing to do with the actual collection) is that my Kindle app couldn't read it in dark mode because the file was created with preset grey text that wouldn't be overridden. So in dark mode it's grey text on a black background and therefore illegible. This is an odd complaint, but I did not hold it against the collection, which was excellent. ( )
Meh. average collection of SnS short stories. None particularly thrilled me. The editor includes a fairly long forward about the history of SnS from the early ground breaking work of Conan the barbarian, and how essential the character is in maintaining the action of SnS. Short stories are very hard to do with a character centred focus because there is so little space to get to know the hero properly. MOst fo tese fail on that criteria.
A couple of others are obviously excerpts from longer novels - GRRM's particularly. This is a shame as he has written many short stories that would be fine. ( )
