She is the youngest member of a Swedish family living in 1887 Lindsborg, Kansas. The Patriarch of the family died several years ago and the Matriarch, whom Sigrid has cared for, has just passed away. Sigrid, now in her late 20's, is now alone. Having cared for her Mother she never married and is now seen as a spinster. She now must contemplate what her future holds. Her brother and sister would like her to sell the land and homeplace in order for them to get their shares out of it, but Sigrid doesn't want to. She feels forced to find a way to make money and buy out her siblings interests in the farm. When Sigrid finds she has two men vying for her attention she must look to her strong faith in God and her heart to find out who is truly part of the flock and who is the wolf in sheep's clothing. This book is great if you just want a short, light read. There is no adult content or obscene language. It has a good faith inspired background. This book also has an extra for the reader in that, at the beginning of each chapter there is a Swedish recipe for a dish mentioned in the chapter it precedes. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Review: This was the first book I ever read by Tracie Peterson. It a book that made me laugh, cry and read read. I loved the Sigrid who is a spinster with the best and worst of problems to solve during the holiday season - 2 suitors. It is full of cultural details and historic details. I loved the learning about the customs and the characters were very realistic. It is a quick read filled with the spirit of Christmas and Christ. ( )
