Apparently Chip Harrison was not originally destined as a detective protagonist. These two novels, reprinted in one volume constitute a coming of age story as a young man finds himself suddenly orphaned and without means. However, even more than making a living, he is preoccupied with the need to lose his virginity and spends all of _No Score_ not quite making it while spending a lot of time in bed with attractive women. In _Chip Harrison Scores Again_ he once more lands on his feet, as bouncer in a small town whorehouse, befriended by the sheriff and balling the minister's daughter. But somehow he knows that his destiny does not lay in that small town. These two stories are funny, and touching in some ways and also a bit of a parody of the teen angst genre, as witnessed by the afterword by a 'Hilton Crofield' who labels Chip a 'lecher on the wry side.'
