I like the illustrations. Some appear to be inked leaves pressed on paper. Others have an almost ethereal spring feeling. Includes: Four page addendum describes in greater detail about those phrases. Glossary. Further reading. ( ) This is another sweet little book that was recommended by Read Aloud Revival (Sarah Mackenzie). It has fun, vibrant illustrations and easy-to-understand wording. My kids enjoyed talking about the seasons and all the different things “a leaf can be.” The only criticism I have is that there’s a lot of really great information about the various “roles” of leaves in the very back. I wish that information had been interspersed throughout the book instead so kids could learn as they go. My kids (5yo & 3yo) enjoyed this book and recommend it! A LEAF CAN BE is a beautifully illustrated poetry book. It would make a great mentor text for many lessons such as writing poetry, vocabulary, and rhyming. At the end of the book, the author takes the time to explain her descriptive words in her poetry and how they apply to a leaf. She also includes a glossary and I loved that. I think this book would also be great to read aloud for a science lesson. An outstanding book about the many uses of leaves throughout each season. The illustrations are beautifully done and greatly help early readers provide context and meaning for new vocabulary words. The rhymes of the book are simple and effective, and help highlight the many functions and uses of leaves. This is a great book for young and early readers. I love that the back of the book includes a further description of each use of the leaves that was mentioned in the book as well as a simple glossary. A wonderful book in poem form to introduce a discussion about seasons, plants, and learning about multiple uses for the same object. This is a great text to use to introduce children to phonetics and sounds, as well as the concept of rhyming. The book is beautifully illustrated and beginning readers and ELL learners will be able to use the illustrations to help them place new words in context. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
