I usually end up grabbing a PNR when I can't find any epic fantasy that I want to read and this one was good. I like the world-building and will most likely get the next one. My knock on it was the for the overly-used and much hated cliffhanger ending. ( ) So this book started off very slow and I was quite concerned that I wasn't going to be able to finish it. But it quietly turned around and became impossible to put down. I ended up staying up and reading the last 200 pages in one sitting. I love Jessica. She's a strong but flawed character. She loves her family and wants to do right by them. She doesn't consider herself too old or too smart to take her dad's advice. And, I loved Rourke. I hated that cliffhanger of an ending though. I'm also not much of a werewolf reader at all but I can't wait to read more of this series. I've already pre-ordered the next book off Amazon. I can't wait to watch Jessica grow into her powers and see what happens as the news that she's a full-blooded female werewolf gets out into the world. Quick paced UF (you can tell it's going to feature romance pretty heavily in later books though). I really enjoyed the authors world and the characters seem great .... but I don't think I can finish it :/ blame it on Ilona Andrews but I like when there seems to be a a throughline present in books and just reading the next couple books synopsis it just seems like its 'What kind of wacky situation will our characters find themselves in this time' So if you want a quick UF give it a shot it took me no time to read it and it reads really well I just don't think it's for me. I'm torn on my rating for this. Think of it as 2-1/2 out of 5 stars. The reason I rated it lower is because this book badly needs an editor. There are many careless typos and grammatical errors and those take away from my reading enjoyment. Here's what I did like: the main character. I liked her very much. In her world weres are male only so when she was born there was an uproar. But she never changed so gradually the furor around her calmed down and she was able to leave Pack and live her own life, albeit a life in disguise. Then, out of nowhere, when she's 26, she changes. Instead of weeping over her lost life or, worse, stubbornly refusing to accept her new reality and therefore endangering not only herself but everyone around her, Jess deals with it. She's very practical that way and I really like that about her. I also really like that there's no love triangle, no instance of "ooh, everyone is in loooooove with the new ladywolf" nonsense. Her friends are her friends, her pack is her pack, and her lover is her lover. (This book also has a very refreshing attitude toward sex. Jess has a casual encounter with someone and they both accept it as fulfilling their needs and having a good time. I love that!) (Provided by publisher) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
