Vinson's grandfather comes from China to visit his family. During his stay, Vinson sees the wonders of Tai Chi and learns about self-discipline.

"Crouching Tiger" is about a boy who begins to learn tai chi when his grandpa comes to visit from China. At first the boy is frustrated because it feels like all he is doing is standing and not learning real tai chi, but over time he comes to understand his grandfather.

This book give the reader some insight to the Chinese New Year celebration, martial arts, and patience. I loved the illustrations a lot, especially the little pose illustrations on each page. ( )

Big Kid Reaction: This is an excellent book that provides a very good introduction to the Chinese New Year’s celebration. The illustrations complement the story very well.

Pros: Readers will enjoy very nice illustrations and lots of good information that is worked into the flow of the narrative.
