I've re-read the entire Sherlock Holmes stories too many times to count, but I never thought I'd find anything else of Doyle's. So it was a lovely surprise to discover this collection.
Two stories particularly impressed me. 'J. Habakuk Jephson's Statement' is unusual in that it presents the concept of black supremacy, which strikes me as quite interesting considering the era in which it was written.
I also liked 'The horror of the heights' which is quite crazy and fantastical. The fear and suspicion and, at the same time, awe of technology in this story reminds me of steampunk stuff. ( )
