I have a fair bit of experience with two colour double-knitting, but I was looking for some technical assistance because after finishing a major project I had noticed some aspects of my working technique that could probably be improved. I optimistically requested several books from the library and this one is hands-down the best.

APQ is a straightforward and opinionated knitter and this is not a bad thing. He's not prescriptive: you don't have to twist your stitches, but he'll tell you why he likes it that way (for double-knitting, it makes the stitches less wide; overly wide stitches are a perennial issue in the technique). He also has step by step photos of how to actually knit-and-purl the stitch pairs with both yarns tensioned in the left hand, which looks a lot quicker than my drop-and-pick-up method. I'm looking forward to getting back to basics and trying these techniques, because those are problems that I've identified in my own work.

Extreme Double-Knitting went straight onto my wishlist before I finished Chapter 2. ( )
