The timeless appeal of Jane Austen is evidenced not only by perpetual interest in her classic novels but also by countless book clubs, movies, plays, books, and sundry products which celebrate her work. Austentatious Crochet presents Austen fans with a unique opportunity to step into the scarf, skirt, or chemise of Elizabeth Bennett, Emma Woodhouse, and a host of other favorite Austen characters. The book features thirty-two original crochet projects inspired by Austen novels but fabulously brought up to date and wearable today. The designs focus on women's wear, such as dresses, sweaters, cardigans, and capelets, but also encompass accessories such as handbags, scarfs, and pillowcases and clothing for children. Introductions to each project include favorite bits of dialogue from the original novels. Fully illustrated with evocative photos, Regency-style illustrations, and step-by-step schematics, Austentatious Crochet is certain to please the devoted Austen lover as well as craft enthusiasts.… (más)

Stunning, unique, delicate, romantic and period inspired crochet clothing patterns.
I haven't yet used these patterns though on my to crochet list is the delicate circular vest & the wheat sheaf stitch shawl.
On my wish list to crochet are the dreaming of ....pajama set. What an adorable project!
From the patterns I'd say this is for intermediate, confident crocheters who are familiar with clothing, various yarn types (cotton/wool/bamboo/thread vs yarn, etc).
The patterns don't seem difficult but I wouldn't advise the first time you use bamboo thread to be with a project in here.
The crochet thread and yarn these patterns call for will be an investment.
I practice on acrylic yarn.
I also save the extra yarn at the end of projects for swatches and experimentation. ( )

Say after me: 'I don't need to buy this book. I don't...'
-- But it's so beautiful.
I don't need to buy this book, I wouldn't make anything from it.
-- What about the lovely yoke design? Or the doll's capelet?
It's in the library if I decide to make them. I do not need to buy this book.
-- But all the designs are really clever.
And I doubt that I would have the courage to wear them if I did make them. I do not need to buy this book.
-- But I WANT it.
There is that. But it is still in the library if I want to look at it again. ( )

Well written, with beautiful photography by Chris Hynes, this book provides fans of Jane Austen a chance to crochet beautiful Austen-like garments.

Crochet patterns are well written and easy to follow. Garments include pantaloons and vests, skirts, scarves, shawls, sweaters, hats and even young girls clothing. Sizes include several plus size garments for larger women.

As a woman who adores this time era of clothing, I am in heaven trying to decide which garment I will make first! I can't wait to get started!

I give this book...Five Stars and a big... Thumbs Up!I also give this my...Highly Recommended Award! ( )
