Dick, Alfred, Tim, and Cassandra are saints for being able to deal with the humungous prick that is Damian Wayne. ( )

Contained within the covers of this collection is the tale of Gotham City. And what a dark tale it is—filled with betrayal, murderer, and corruption. Dick Grayson's Batman teams up with Robin, Red Robin, and the Black Bat to take on a villain out of a steam-punk novel, as he targets the founding families (and their associated structures) of Gotham City. Well done story. I do have one big complaint with it - it's pre-Flashpoint, so it's got the old Damien Wayne, who is an obnoxious prat. ( )

Good solid story that both expanded and deepened the "history" of Gotham but also did so without running roughshod over established character continuities or personalities.

Very well done collection of stories and far better than many of the past few years, in my opinion. ( )

This is sorta for Batman like The Kents is for Superman. We get to see the background of the building of Gotham City. Of course, we also get to meet the Architect of the city, and that works out less well (things explode, a lot of things).

I liked this TPB a lot. It had two distinct stories, aht past one, and the present one, and both were done really well and fit really well together as well.

I also really liked the art for the most part. There was only one niggling thing that got on my nerves a bit, all the guys in the 'Batman Family' pretty much looked the same, or where drawn the same. It made it hard to decipher Bruce from Richard from Tim or any other guy. FO course, the masks helped, and at least the black haired females looked different. Still, even with that problem, overall a good TPB. ( )
