Synopsis: Benni and Gabe go home to meet his family. What seems like a nerve-wracking, but rather normal vacation turns into a search for a murderer. Unfortunately, all of the suspects are Gabe's good friends.
Review: This is an interesting look at Amish practices as well as behind the scenes show business. An interesting read; I only figured out who the villain was very close to the end. ( )

I think this series just keeps getting better and better. I normally dislike books within a series that "travel" - take place outside the normal setting. This book was an exception. Really, the mystery was just excellent and the character development, the relationship between Benni and Gabe, is outstanding. I'm really looking forward to catching up with this series. ( )

The 3rd book in the Benni Harper Myster series. As with each book I am enjoying the characters more and more and the mystery is quite good as well. ( )

Third in the Benni Harper Mystery series, this episode finds Benni and her
new husband, Police Chief Gabe Ortiz, heading from their home in California
to the small Kansas town near Wichita where Gabe grew up, so Benni can "meet
the folks." Her nervousness is enhanced by the knowledge that her ditzy
grandmother, Dove, her father and her useless Uncle Arnie are driving east
to meet them there and "get a look at the new outlaws." But all thoughts of
family problems take a sudden backseat when a young, upcoming country singer
named Tyler Brown is murdered at a party thrown for Gabe and Benni by all of
his old friends. Gabe is in the horrible position of knowing that one of
his dearest friends is likely the murderer, and he insists that Benni NOT
get involved with this investigation, even though her natural curiosity and
skills have helped solve a couple of murders in the past. But, telling
Benni not to get involved is like telling a storm cloud not to rain, and
Benni soon realizes that her hasty marriage will be much like the Kansas
summer weather -- unpredictable and bound to be stormy.

I'm liking this series more and more. Even the relationship between Benni
and Gabe seems to fit them more in this book. I'm glad to see the author
not letting this couple "live happily ever after" without a great deal of
effort. Oh, and the mystery was good, too. LOL It gets a 4. ( )
