This book tells the pledge of allegiance as well as includes side commentary that allows the reader to understand what each part of the pledge means and represents. ( ) Summary: This book explores the national anthem and what it is. The authors use pictures and the breaking down of the anthem, to convey the meaning and reason for the language used. There are elements of history that are applicable to today and something the students say often. Genre: Informational because the information in the book is true and the authors are teaching the reader about the national anthem. They do it in a way that is interesting and creative. At some points the graphics and the breaking up of the national anthem can get a little confusing/ busy, but I like how once they are done explaining, they say the whole thing from beginning to end. They also define words that some students may not know or understand. Medium: Mixed media Age Appropriateness: Primary and intermediate Use in a classroom: This book could be used to teach the national anthem to your students and what the national anthem means. If you were studying this time period in history or a period where there was much conflict, this book would explain what the US stands and was built upon. This book explains what the pledge of allegiance means. It does it by breaking the pledge into smaller pieces and explaining what each of them mean. This would be a good book to have any person read who does not know or does not understand the pledge of allegiance. The illustrations are colorful and add to the enjoyment of reading this book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
