Most of them were based on tidbits his readers would send in to him. Then he would respond in his humorous, sarcastic way. Some of his articles were based on his experiences with his family. I found those articles the funniest. My favorite article was about buying, then learning how to launch and sail, a boat. Some of the other articles were, well, just plain dumb. But overall, a good laugh. The author is a humor columnist and this is a collection of short columns published in the Miami Herald. Pulitzer Prize winner, illustrated by the cartoons of Jeff MacNelly of "Shoe" fame. Lots of man-child prank-fart humor and puns ("Moby Yuck", "Cheep Sex", "Death Wormed Over", "Lemon Haranque"). Includes the "do-it-yourself deficit-reduction contest", and the column announcing the winner: The idea of converting the federal budget deficit to electrical voltage and run the current through our congresspersons. [182] This included government fund-raising ideas, such as selling secrets to the Russians directly, cutting out the middle men. The perspective with respect to our Government is quite satirical. "But all kidding aside, the time has come for us to work together on this deficit thing. What can you do? You can write to your congressperson. Tell him you're fed up with government irresponsibility. Tell him you don't want excuses. Tell him you want action. Tell him these are going to be very sharp electrodes." [185] And this was when H.W. Bush was President and Congress bailed out the entire Savings and Loan Industry after its CEOs had lost hundreds of billions of dollars. [179] This may possibly be my favorite collection of Dave Barry's columns, although I might find myself saying that about another collection the next time I read another. It includes many that I'd list among his classics, such as the Exploding Whale column and several about his dog Earnest and emergency backup dog, Zippy. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
