A Book in the Home SeriesJake Owens, aggressive, physical, blunt and brave, is a football hero turned city cop. Nate Richardson, his best friend since before forever, is thoughtful, quiet, and kind, a brilliant doctor who has always known who he is and that Jake is the love of his life--and loyal, courageous, straight Jake has never had a clue. But Jake has been nursing his own case of the unrequiteds, and he's never been as straight as Nate assumes. Nate may think their passionate explosion is a fluke, a result of too much closeness for too long, but Jake is bound and determined to prove to him otherwise. Reading the same scenes twice in different POV, boring. Fluff overload. ( )

Loved these two together; Jake and Nate were very “fated mates” and it worked. Jake and his protectiveness were mind-blowing, and I think this is the first time I’ve ever read something where one character keeps some major secrets and the other never finds out about them (and Jake had a couple of doozies here which were heart-wrenching). I loved that we got to see a glimpse of their life during Aaron and Zach’s story at the beginning of this series; all the little pieces were nice, and they were a good connection since this wasn’t set in Emile City like the others. 3.5 rounded up :)

I'm starting to think there is something oddly addictive in these books. It's not that I don't like sweet books, nor do I loathe insta-love. I can even deal with over-the-top, excessive amounts of "porn" sex.

This series combines all three and actually takes the sweet to cavity inducing. You'd think I'd be put off, wouldn't you? Yet, I'm not. I can't stop now. I need to read the rest, read more! ( )

This book is pure sweetness, awww to the max. It definitely hit the spot for the mood I was in.

Nate and Jake were destined to be together. They were raised as one big family. It's like both have a second set of parents and a brother. They aren't alike in the sense that one is a jock and the other a nerd, but they both form their life around and follow the other. The way they base their entire existence on one another makes an epic romance inevitable. They do have a few bumps to pass on the way, but this is mostly a drama free, smooth read.

If you're looking for an adorable couple who are all about their love for each other, this is the story for you.

2-2/5 stars. I just wasn't feeling this one. I didn't really connect with the characters (way to insecure at the beginning, way to sugary-sweet the rest of the time). I was more interested in a minor character that was introduced right at the end! (here's hoping he gets his own story!) ( )
