I liked this story about the little boy and dinosaurs. I thought the characters were portrayed well because when a child asks a parent for a pet, parents sometimes say no. In this story, the mother eventually let her son have a puppy because a dinosaur was too much work. I think this is very realistic in the fact of how the people act. I also enjoyed the detailed, colorful illustrations. The fear in the characters’ eyes when the dinosaurs were making chaos shows how the characters were scared. The big idea of this story is that a pet can be difficult to take care of and pets also need a lot of attention. ( )

A little boy asks his mother for a puppy and she tells him no. He then bought a dinosaur egg which hatched and he has to use a horn to call it to come home. Too many dinosaurs came when he blew the horn, so he blew it again and they went away. His mother then gladly agreed to let him have a puppy! ( )
