Being an only child, I never got to experience what it was like to have siblings. When I read sweet things like this book, I think about what it would be like. I loved how caring the older brother was towards his little brother. He was always loving and never not wanted him to be around. James was also conditioning Nicholas to become an older brother. ( )

I liked this book! Nick has the best big brother named James. James told Nick, “When you’re older, Nick, you wont ever have to take another nap… but you will have to rake the leaves.” That made Nick very happy! This is a great book that shows young students how to treat their siblings. James looks after Nick and loves him very much. In the story Nick says, “My big brother always holds my hand tightly when we cross the street.” James teaches Nick many things and it is very apparent about how much Nick values his big brother. At the end of the book, Nick and James’ mom has a girl and James was finally a big brother. The story ends with James holding Grace and saying, “Big brothers don’t take naps.” The illustrations were appealing and believable. The overall message was to treat your siblings with love and respect and I think that a lot of young students could relate to this book. It was overall a great and beautiful story. ( )

Nick is a little brother who has an amazingly patient and caring big brother, James. He helps him and plays with him constantly. But James doesn't have to take a nap, even on the weekends. But then Nick's mother has a little girl, Grace, and he becomes a big brother too.

A cute story for young children who are getting a new sibling. Also a great example for big brothers, too, who might be struggling with helping out their little siblings. A very nice read. ( )
