The illustrator is the one who picked out these poems and the main point of the book was to show off the illustrations. He really captures the fairy world is all its wonders and horrors. From goblins to pixies, this book captures all of the mythological creatures in beautifully written poems. However, this is not good for younger kids because of how dark some of the poems get. The language, too, may be an issue due to added accents. Sometimes the words are hard to read because of the background, but this book is good for readers who love fantasy. ( ) Have you ever seen beautiful illustrations, this book definitely has that. It is also about fairies so it is definitely beautiful in that regard. I have to say that the poetry was sometimes confusing and weird but it was still very enjoyable to read. I really paid more attention to the illustrations than the poetry just because it caught my eye very nicely. I did notice some familiar writers including William Shakespeare and George Darley. Michael Hague is well known for beautiful illustrations and he does not disappoint when it comes to The Book of Fairy Poetry. Fairy poetry from writers such as Sir Walter Scott, Jack Prelutsky, Walter De La Mare and William Shakespeare are compiled in this artful book. Hague makes magic when pairing this classic poetry with his wonderfully detailed and visually stunning artwork. Jack Prelutsky’s “She”, eerie and extraordinary on its own, is given life through Hague’s depiction of She. It’s almost as if you can feel her watching you while you read. In contrast to “She” John Milton’s “Song” imagines a world fun and excitement, where fairies are dancing all night long. The musicality of the lyrics fills the reader with joy. Hague has compiled a beautiful collection of fairy stories that have been divided into four chapters: Where Fairies Dance, Fairy Justice, The Road to Fairyland and Fairy Helpers. This compilation contains wonderful bed time stories, fun upbeat poetry and classic works from many writers. Hague compliments all of them with magic of his paint brush. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
