Ever wonder what happens to young artists that just don't have artistic ability? They become art collectors! This is certainly the case for Oscar who discovers that he can't draw very well, but he loves art. We see Oscar struggle with the realization that he can't draw and we also see him come to understand that it's ok not be an artist; he can still love art. As Oscar grows up, he collects more art, until he eventually has to have a museum to put all of his art into. Done in complimentary warm and cool tones, the illustrations done in a colored pencil style, especially as different types of art are shown, gives a depth to the story. The moral of the story is a good one, but the storytelling is not as exciting or as humorous as other volumes available. A child who loves art will enjoy this book. Recommended. ( )
