Maintaining vertical(timeline) and horizontal(geography) continuity is sufficiently difficult without having to translate from the muckle of dialects strewn about. The story advances slowly. I think Eric Flint likes people to learn about 17th century history more than he wants to change it in this alternative history series. ( )
